This holiday weekend started with a fatal car crash in Isabella County.

It happened around 3:30 Saturday morning on North Shepherd Road, north of Beal City Road in Denver Township.

The driver of a 1999 Jeep Wrangler 22-year-old Thomas Painter of Mt. Pleasant lost control of his vehicle.

He was ejected and the Jeep rolled on him.

Speed and alcohol were a factor.

The 17 year old passenger was not hurt.
