LANSING -- Hundreds of senior citizens turned up in Lansing for the beginning of oral arguments involving Michigan's new pension tax plan on Wednesday.

The arguments took place inside the Michigan Supreme Court, which agreed to hear the case at the request of Governor Rick Snyder.

Governor Snyder put the new plan in place earlier this year as part of his sweeping tax reform, but the changes won't take until January 1, 2012.

Under the new plan, some pensions and retirement income would be taxed as income, for people born after 1945.
