ARGENTINE TWP. -- An 85-year-old was struck and killed while getting his mail in Genesee County.

The Associated Press reports Claude “Jay” Carr was hit Sunday night in Argentine Township by a 34-year-old driver from Fenton Township.

The Argentine Police Chief told The Flint Journal the incident happened on Silver Lake Road. 

Carr was reportedly rushed to the hospital where he later died from the injuries.

There’s no word yet on what caused the driver to hit the elderly man.  So far, the AP reports speed and alcohol don’t appear to be factors in the accident.  The Flint Journal also reports that the driver was released and hasn’t yet been charged.
