The city of Flint has more arson fires per capita than any other city in the nation according to the FBI.

As we head closer to 'Devils Night' fire fighters are working hard to make sure neighborhoods are on guard. A Devils Night fire in Flint last year injured two firefighters. Its the kind of scene emergency crews want to avoid this year. But, statistics say it won't be easy, especially in Flint. Flint fire marshal Marcus Brown says, "Flint is ranked like one in the nation for arsons , FBI statistics, so we get a lot of fire calls."

Devils Night, the day before Halloween has been a peak night for fires in Flint. But, after cutbacks, its not a problem fire fighters can afford this year. Flint is taking a lesson from Saginaw fire fighters. Saginaw fire marshal Gregory Barton says, "Arson is a problem here leading up to October 30 and 31."

At least it had been a problem in Saginaw until recent years. An arson watch program worked.

Barton also say, "With the extra patrols out we actually start patrolling and we patrol throughout the night."

Both Flint and Saginaw departments will be patrolling this year. They remind everyone that arson is punishable with jail time.
