A crash that shut down I-69 in Lapeer County on Monday had police investigators baffled. They couldn't understand why a man driving a Ford ran into a bridge pillar. Since the victim's body was so badly burned, they also had no idea who it was. A Medical Examiner has now determined it was caused by a man who took his own life. Police say 17 year old Jake John, a student from Marysville High School, was behind the wheel. They say he had just been accepted into Michigan State University. But he had also been accused of stealing a laptop. John's car caught fire and was badly damaged. He was declared dead at the scene.
