What foods do you eat everyday? Do you make homemade meals or is it easier to just pick-up fast food?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports, whatever our food source, roughly 30 percent of Americans are obese.

According to Healthyamericans.org, Michigan is the 10th most obese state. Over the last 15 years, the obesity rate has increased by 77 percent.

A decade ago, no state had an obesity rate above 24 percent, but that is not the case now. People are becoming more and more unhealthy and overweight.

The way to measure it is by your body mass index, which is the calculation of someone's fat based on their weight and height. If your BMI is greater than 30, you are considered obese.

One man told NBC25 that at one point he was 350 lbs and decided he had to lose weight.

"I eat mainly a vegetarian diet. I had cancer, so I'm very conscious on what I eat. I do eat some meats and some proteins, but I cook mainly vegetarian," said Scott Langley.

However, not everyone is a vegetarian. Some people said they eat out and frequent fast food restaurants. Which depending on where you go and how much of the food you eat, may not be a healthy choice. Deep fried home cooked meals are also not on the healthier side.

If you are obese, you may be at a greater risk of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, stroke, cancer and others diseases.
