FLINT -- DaVontrae Benton was sentenced to over 31 years in prison today for the killing of then six-year-old Jonaries Holden back in November of 2010.
Judge Archie Hayman from the 7th Circuit Court of Genesee County passed down the sentence on Thursday morning in front of a packed court room.
Benton was sentenced to 30 to 50 years in prison for second degree murder. He was given another two years for a felony firearm charge.
Investigators say Benton and Jonaries's father, Johnny Holden were arguing over a $60 drug debt when Benton shot into Holden's car. Jonaries, his twin brother and another child were in the back seat. Jonaries was shot and killed.
