Police seek man who walked away from work detail
LAPEER COUNTY -- Authorities in Lapeer County are searching for a man who escaped the Thumb Correctional Facility during a work detail this morning.
31-year old Darrell Stallard, who served time on armed robbery, was transported from Camp Tuscola to do work detail outside the prison.
Police are seeking a white male standing about 5 feet, 11 inches and weighing about 165 pounds. He has blue eyes and was wearing civilian clothes.
He was mowing lawns and disappeared around 11:15 a.m. His clothes were found and there was no sign of Stallard.
Authorities say they believe Stallard may have had an accomplice that gave him a change of clothes.
Lappeer, Davison and Goodrich Schools were put on secure mode. Students were released at their regular time.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
