MIDLAND -- There were some tense moments in Midland on Tuesday when a woman flipped out and left a suspicious package at the post office.
Police say a woman started yelling profanities when she was told how much it would cost to mail her package.
Postal employees tried to get the woman to leave with her box but she refused and continued to scream and took off.
An off-duty officer was able to get the woman's license plated but she does not live in the area.
The package left behind had an out of state sender and return address so authorities took safety precautions.
"To error on the side of caution, we decided to block off some roads and the business was closed for public safety," said Midland Police Chief Clifford Block. "We called in the Michigan State Police and the bomb squad."
It turns out the package just had clothes in it.
Later on Tuesday afternoon, police learned the woman bought the box at the Auburn post office and believed postage was included in the price of the box, which apparently led to her irrational behavior.
Police have yet to actually talk to the woman.
