MT. PLEASANT -- Thousands of Michigan athletes competed this weekend in the 2012 Special Olympics State Summer Games.
Held in Mt. Pleasant at Central Michigan University, the event featured sports ranging from track to bowling. Competitors were awarded medals for first- through third-place finishes and ribbons for fourth- through eighth-place finishes.
Opening ceremonies took place Thursday, beginning with the Law Enforcement Torch Run from Lansing to Kelly/Shorts Stadium. NBC25 had a wrap-up of the games on a special edition of our news Sunday at 11 p.m.
