SAGINAW -- They are making way for a new parking lot in downtown Saginaw.

The vacant Sgainaw Plaza Hotel took a big hit on Monday as a wrecking ball began demolishing the building.

The Saginaw County Land Bank Authority purchased the building for $235,000 in 2011 after it was foreclosed on.

The Saginaw County Sheriff's Department has been using the vacant building for training exercises.
