AUBURN HILLS (AP) -- A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with a traffic accident that injured Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and his driver.

The Oakland County prosecutor's office has charged Anthony Prainito of Royal Oak with three counts of moving violation causing serious impairment of a bodily function. The charges are misdemeanors and punishable by up to 93 days in jail.

Prainito and his attorney were expected at an arraignment Wednesday afternoon.

Prainito and his passenger also were injured when his car collided Aug. 10 at an intersection in Auburn Hills with Patterson's car.

County spokesman Bill Mullan says Patterson remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Patterson was not wearing a seatbelt and has had surgery to repair broken bones. He also had a gash to his scalp.
