Authorities say a suburban Detroit police officer has been fatally shot and the suspected gunman is barricaded inside a home. West Bloomfield Township Police Lt. Timothy Diamond says the 12-year veteran, Patrick O'Rouke of Tyrone Township, was shot about 10 p.m. Sunday as he entered a home in the Oakland County community. The suspect is identified as Ricky Coley. His body was found inside the home 12 hours after the standoff begand. Coley recently had a business in Bad Axe. Police closed roadways in the area Monday morning as police agencies surrounded the home.
Police officers initially responded following a report of shots being fired inside the home. Some area homes have been evacuated. O'Rourke was a married father of 4.
