FLINT -- More than 50 homicides have been reported in Flint this year.

A recent shooting took the life of Jalen Cox.

His family is devastated but community members and an organization are stepping up to help.

"I can't even speak how I'm feeling right now" says Jalen's father Eric Cox.

Jalen was shot and killed on September 16. Wednesday, friends, family and those who just want to help are coming together.

"It just goes to show there are still good people out there willing to help and get our city on the right track," says Jalen's aunt Tyra Poe.

Keith O'Neal of the Good Samaritan Network working to raise money and help the Cox family pay for Jalen's funeral expenses.

"Every mom and dad listening who loves their children who can't imagine facing this I'm asking them to sit down and write a check to Good Samaritan in care Jalen," says O'Neal.

The Good Samaritan Network is working to pay for the $7,000 in funeral expenses for Jalen.

Checks can be sent to the Good Samaritan Netork:
