GOODRICH -- After voters turned down an attempt to detach neighborhoods from the village of Goodrich, officials are talking about now possibly making Goodrich a city.

The item was on Monday night's village council agenda.

If residents want the village of Goodrich to become a city, the village would need to establish a fire department and get police protections, either from the Genesee County Sheriff's Department or a neighborhing community.

Currently, village residents pay taxes to Atlas Township for police and fire protection.
