FLINT TOWNSHIP -- Six apartments were destroyed this weekend after a blaze in the Clover Tree Apartments in Flint Township.

Flames broke out at the complex shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Neighbors say the fire started on the top floor and moved across the 24-unit building.

The six-alarm fire called in more than 50 firefighters.

Five people had to be rescued from their balcony and several are still without a plaee to stay.

"It is sad that a lot of families lost everything they had I mean it was unbelievable. I have never seen anything like that they could not get the fire out it just kept blazing and kept blazing, just extremely hot," Clover Tree resident Candy Kelly said.

Family members involved said a baby was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation but is doing well.

Families displaced from the fire are turning to the American Red Cross for help.
