Dr. Dan Kehres makes it fast and easy
No time to make dinner but you want a healthy meal?
Get out your slow cooker., a Saginaw chiropractor has just the recipe.
Dr. Dan Kehres is a former college running back, who's all about nutrition. He has a fast and easy way to make your dinner the talk of the neighborhood.
On Sundays, Dr. Kehres buys enough ingredients to make a few meals, places them in labeled plastic bags and stores them in the freezer.
This preperation on Sunday gives him a week's worth of meals just waiting to be defrosted and cooked in a slow cooker.
Recipe: Chicken Taco Salad
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lbs uncooked boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 1/2 tbsp taco seasoning
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and sliced
- 1 16 oz jar of salsa
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 tsp of salt
Place all ingredients in a gallon-size freezer bag, including raw chicken, label with instructions and store in the freezer.
When ready to eat, thaw in the refrigerator for 24 hours, then cook in a slow cooker on LOW for 4 - 5 hours.
Shred meat with a fork, serve on lettuce or spinach with guacamole, tomatoes, olive oil and some lime squeezed on top.
Since it's seasonal you could add beef or venison.
