29-year-old sentenced for sexual assault on Indian Reservation

MT. PLEASANT -- 29-year-old Waylon James Pego will spend 30 years behind bars for assaulting and threatening three victims on an Indian Reservation in Mt. Pleasant.

According to a release, Pego strangled and threatened three victims in incidents that happened in 2007, 2010 and 2012. He also sexually assaulted one victim.

A jury found Pego guilty on November 15, 2012.

He is convicted of the following charges: unlawful imprisonment, aggravated sexual assault, domestic assault by a habitual offender, assault causing serious bodily injury, interfering with electronic communications, witness tampering and assault with a dangerous weapon.

The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police and FBI special agents investigated the case.
