SAGINAW -- A Saginaw woman whose husband fled the country and who is charged with operating a ponzi scheme is now facing charges as well.

M. Viktoria Wilson of Saginaw is charged with one count of lying to a police officer during the investigation of the ponzi scheme.

Wilson is the wife of Joel Wilson, also of Saginaw, who was charged with operating the ponzi scheme in January.

The investment scheme was worth nearly $500,000, according to police.

The scheme collected money from investors in order to purchase, fix up, and resell homes in Saginaw and Bay City.

The attorney general's office says Joel Wilson kept part of the money for himself while recycling some for other investors as well.

According to officials, Joel Wilson fled the country.
