Local organizers of the Randy Wise Junior Open, which took place at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich., Aug. 2-5, 2010, have earned the Most Improved Tournament Award from the American Junior Golf Association.

Haoyuan Lu of Bradenton, Fla., made four birdies en route to a 1-under-par 71 to grab the lead after the first round of the Randy Wise Junior Open. Ashley Armstrong of Flossmoor, Ill., also carded a 1-under-par 71 to lead the Girls Division.

Six birdies helped Michael Nagy of Manistique, Mich., medal and join the field for the Randy Wise Junior Open with a 5-under-par 67 in just his second AJGA event. Jamie Oleksiew of Surrey, British Columbia carded a 3-over-par 75 to medal in the Girls Division. Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the K¹² Qualifier for the Randy Wise Junior Open was held at The Jewel of Grand Blanc – Diamond Course in Grand Blanc, Mich.

The tournament field is made up of 99 players - boys and girls ages 12-18 -representing 11 states, Canada, Indonesia and Thailand. Twenty-six players are from the host state of Michigan.

Michael Hong of Fullerton, Calif., played solidly Thursday at the Randy Wise Junior Open to stay atop of the Boys Division by one stroke after carding an even-par 72 in the second round. Talia Campbell of Dallas and Ashley Armstrong of Flossmoor, Ill., enter the final round tied at 1-under-par 143.
