Pristine conditions help produce low scores
GRAND BLANC TWP. -- Few people would be surprised to discover an eight-shot differential between Tiger Woods and Steve Lowery after the first round of play at the Buick Open, but they'd be downright shocked to see Tiger in the role of pursuer.
With a score of 63 on the par-72 course, Lowery took the outright lead after the opening round of the 51st Buick Open. Tiger Woods, meanwhile, had an uneven day on the course, and settled for a lackluster score of 71.
