With the UM-Flint's athletic feasibility report showing that basketball will be one of the first sports to be introduced to campus; tryouts will be held for students who would like to test their skills on a collegiate level.

Brandon Matthews, Oakland CC standout and area basketball coach, and Ervin Leavy will host the basketball tryout that will choose 15 players who will play and compete against NCAA and NJCAA basketball teams. The selection process be under the direction Matthews and Leavy as well as a coaching staff.
