Slumping T'wolves fall, 64-55
MIDLAND -- The Northwood University Men's Basketball team dropped a 64-55 contest to Grand Valley State Thursday night (January 21).
The Timberwolves are now 7-8 overall, 4-7 in the GLIAC. GVSU now stands at 13-3 overall, 9-2 in the GLIAC.
The first half was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than six. The Lakers hit a late 3-pointer to go up 30-27 at the break. NU out-scored the Lakers 15-6 from beyond the arc in the first half.
Grand Valley State came out strong in the second half, extending their lead to nine less than four minutes in. Northwood fought back to get within five at 47-42 with 9:57 remaining, but would get no closer than that down the stretch.
For the game, Northwood shot 34.0 percent (17-50). GVSU finished at 44.8 percent (26-58).
Dorian Pierce (Jackson, Mich.) led all scorers in the game with 20 points, going 5-9 from the floor and 7-7 from the foul line. Lionel Sullivan (Detroit, Mich./DePorres) had 15 points and 10 rebounds for his 14th career double-double.
Northwood will host Ferris State Saturday (January 23) at 6 p.m.
