Tiger ace greets fans at Jim Waldron GMC Dealership
DAVISON -- After Thursday, there is no questioning the loyalty of Justin Verlander's many fans, who first braved stifling heat followed by a heavy downpour for the chance to meet their favorite Detroit Tiger.
The ace of the pitching staff took advantage of the team's off-day to appear at Jim Waldron's GMC Dealership in Davison, but because he is pitching Friday against Minnesota, Verlander was unable to sign autographs.
His fans were happy nonetheless to get their pictures taken with the ten-game winner.
The Tigers find themselves on top of the AL Central in a very tight, three-team race, and Verlander discussed what has stood out in a very eventful half-season thus far.
"Valverde and Miggy (Cabrera), what they've been able to do, going to represent our team at the All-Star Game, as well," began Verlander. "Couple of memorable games, one of them the other night when we were able to tie it, and then Johnny hit a walk-off home run on the same night that he got his 25-hundredth hit. You know, just things like that are pretty special to be able...to be a part of, and get to see in first-person. Just to be able to come out here and bring some excitement to the area, and be able to represent the Waldrons, like I said, it's a lot of fun for me."
