Track will keep both races next year, may shift dates

BROOKLYN -- Michigan International Speedway president Roger Curtis took some time out of his busy week on Tuesday, to speak with NBC25's Dillon Collier.

Curtis says race fans can expect another action packed weekend of racing in the Irish Hills.

Danica Patrick will resume her Nationwide schedule Saturday, in the CARFAX 250.

As for the Sprint Cup Series, Curtis says MIS will again host two races next summer.

"I know that the two dates at MIS are safe, I've signed the sanctioning agreement.  All those rumors about 'ohh my gosh, is MIS going to lose a date?', that's completely false.  Hopefully we'll know our exact dates on the schedule, which I've been assured are still in June and August, may move up or down a week here or there but we should know that hopefully in the next couple of days," said Curtis.

CARFAX 400 Fact Sheet:

2009 Pole Winner: Brian Vickers, Red Bull Toyota, 187.242 mph, 38.453 seconds.

2009 Race Winner: Brian Vickers, Red Bull Toyota, 131.531 mph, 3 hours, 2 minutes, 28 seconds.

2009 Race Recap: Brian Vickers got his wish after saying during a press conference “I’d give up every single pole for a win at Michigan.”  Vickers, who had won three consecutive poles at Michigan International Speedway, finally got his victory and took home the trophy after winning the 2009 CARFAX 400. It was Vickers’ first victory at MIS and first in 195 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. Jeff Gordon took second, while Dale Earnhardt, Jr. took third. Fuel strategy once again played a role as the dominant car in the race, driven by Jimmie Johnson, led 146 laps of the 200-lap event, but ran out of fuel at the end to finish 33rd. Johnson had run out of fuel on the final lap during the June 2009 race as well.
