Wide receiver wants to complete visits before making final choice

SAGINAW -- Saginaw senior wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett has had an intriguing final year on the high school gridiron.

One of the top recruits in the nation, on a team that lost over 20 seniors last season, Arnett has found himself the focal point of the opposition's defensive gameplan almost every week.

"I mean double team, triple team.  I wont say its easy,  I wont say its hard but its not too much on me.  I like to run good routes, and if I run good routes and get open i'm going to get the ball no matter who's around me.  Definitely its hard every week knowing that the whole game plan is just to stop one person," says Arnett, who has yet to announce his plans for college.

Arnett's short list of possible destinations includes Michigan State, California, USC and Oklahoma.

Saginaw head coach Gary Lee can understand Arnett's situation.  Lee was head coach at Flint Southwestern Academy in 2007, when future Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, Jr. completed a record-breaking senior season.

Even Lee is surprised by what lengths teams will go to,in order to stop Arnett.

"One game we had the linebacker step out, jammed him.  After the linebacker jammed him, the corner was over top and then they brought the safety over top.  There was three guys on this young man.  Its just been some wild stuff and basically what people have told us is, he's not going to beat us, we've got to make somebody else do it," says Lee.

Friday night the Trojans host Flint Northern, another Saginaw Valley school that Lee used to coach for.
