Sophomore is one of 15 semifinalists

University of Michigan sophomore quarterback NEW HAVEN, CT -- Denard Robinson (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach) was announced on Tuesday (Nov. 16) as a "Player to Watch" for the Walter Camp Football Foundation's 2010 Player of the Year Award.

Robinson ranks second nationally in total offense (340.7 yards per game), passing for 1,990 yards and rushing for 1,417 yards. He has accounted for a total of 26 touchdowns (14 passing, 12 rushing). Robinson is also third nationally in rushing yards per game, averaging 141.7 yards per game, and trails the nation's leader in total rushing yards, LaMichael James of Oregon, by just five yards. He has twice been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation's National Offensive Player of the Week this season and is a three-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.

Robinson has shattered records all season, becoming the only quarterback in NCAA history to rush for 200 yards and pass for 200 yards in two games during the same season. This year, Robinson has set the Michigan record for total offense in a game (502 yards vs. Notre Dame; September 11) and in a season, shattering the old mark of 3,240 yards set by John Navarre in 2003. Additionally, he has set the Big Ten record for most rushing yards in a single season by a quarterback and needs only 78 rushing yards to set the NCAA record, currently held by Beau Morgan (Air Force, 1996; ended with 1,494 rushing yards).

The list will be cut to five finalists on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The 2010 Walter Camp Player of the Year, who is voted on by the Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be presented live on Thursday, Dec. 9, during the 6 p.m. (EST) edition of ESPN Sportscenter.

The winner will receive his trophy at the Foundation's annual national awards banquet on January 15, 2011, at the Yale University Commons in New Haven.
