Bob Knickerbocker and staff already preparing for Capital One Bowl
EAST LANSING -- The Big Ten Champion Michigan State Spartans practicing one final time on Monday morning before breaking for Christmas. The team will re-convene at the end of this week and head to Orlando for the Capital One Bowl.
The Spartans' equipment department, however, is getting no such break before the bowl game. Bob Knickerbocker and his staff loaded a 50-foot semi outside the Duffy Daugherty building on Monday afternoon.
The truck will reach Florida on Wednesday - several days before the team.
Knickerbocker made sure every training table, roll of tape, and even the Athletic Director's golf clubs, reach their final destination.
For him, the extra month of work is a labor of love.
"As I said, that's our goal to get to a bowl game. That's part of the deal, we understand that," said Knickerbocker. "We don't have a lot of times ourselves. Our days are scheduled. Every day, minute by minute, literally. Now there might be an afternoon we can have to ourself and that kind of thing. I mean I'm going to relax when I can, believe me."
