Beecher earns hard-fought road win at Goodrich
FLINT -- It was only fitting that a back-and-forth affair between two long-time city rivals would come down to the final shot of the game.
DeOndre Parks' last-second three-pointer gave Flint Northwestern a 61-58 victory over arch-rival Flint Southwestern on Tuesday night. Parks scored the Wildcats' final five points of the game, each of which broke a tie. Flint SWA still had one final chance, with two seconds left on the clock, and inbounding underneath their own basket...but an errant pass deflected off a Knight player out of bounds, sealing the victory for Northwestern.
In other action, Goodrich hosted Beecher in a matchup of the two clear-cut favorites in the GAC Red this season. The Bucs built an early lead from which the Martians would chip away at for the majority of the night, but never had quite enough to get over the hump. Beecher went on for an 72-62 victory.
