A basketball themed carnival brought out nearly 450 kids Wednesday afternoon
FLINT -- The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint joined forces with the Detroit Pistons Wednesday aftenoon to throw a basketball themed carnival for kids in the area.
Around 450 youngsters showed up to enjoy food from Famous Dave's, meet some Piston greats, and enjoy the day outside.
Activites included bounce houses, kickball, of course there was basketball, and much more.
James Gaskin, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint, knows this is all about the kids.
"We had the dunk team out from the Pistons, some Piston veterans. Really it's just to celebrate with our kids and encourage them to make good decisions, as they move through the summer and get ready to get back to school in the fall." said Gaskin.
Former Piston guard Mateen Cleaves also talked about how the kids need to make good choices. " I am aware of what's going on in the community, some of the bad things and we have to change that. I tell them that they are the kids, they are the future, they are the people that are going to have to start that and change that." Cleaves said.
