Five-game winning streak ends
MIDLAND -- All good things must come to an end.
That's what must be on the minds of the Great Lakes Loons as they dropped their series finale against the Lake County Captains 4-1 on Friday night.
The Loons rode a five-game winning streak into their final game against Lake County, but were unable to muster enough offense off the pitching power of their opponents.
Captains' pitcher J.D. Reichenbach pitched five solid innings, allowing only five hits, one earned run and struck out for Loons.
Loons' pitcher Ryan Christenson had another tough outing, surrendering four earned runs across six innings of work.
Christenson has now allowed 23 runs in his last five starts.
Jesse Bosnik was a lone bright spot in the Loons lineup, garnering a double, the only extra base hit on the Loons side.
Nine Loons batters were set down on strikes.
The Loons open a six-game road trip with a three-game series against West Michigan, beginning Saturday night.
Opening pitch is at 7:05 from Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park.
