Bucs look to add football prestige to a basketball-rich school
MOUNT MORRIS -- After winning two straight games to clinch an automatic playoff berth, Flint Beecher has it's eyes set on a district title.
At a school where basketball prestige reigns supreme, the Buccaneer football team wants to make its mark as well.
"This is an opportunity for us to put something in that trophy case and that's what it's all about," said Courtney Hawkins, Flint Beecher Head Coach and Athletic Director.
The Bucs have made five straight appearances in the postseason but have not made it past regionals in the last four. Dual-threat senior quarterback Antuan Burks hopes to change that.
"We're hungry for it and this year we're focused on what we weren't accomplishing three years ago," Burks said.
The road starts St. Clair where the Bucs will play undefeated Warren Michigan Collegiate, who are 9-0 on the season.
