Eagles bow out to Auburn Hills Avondale 2-1

FENTON -- Auburn Hill Avondale's Danny Swanson nailed a free kick with less than 15 minutes in the match to eliminate Lapper East in the Division Two District final.

The Eagles suffered their first loss of the season, winning 18 matches and tying five.

"I think it was a successful season," said Chad Kenny, Lapper East head coach. "I'm thrilled to look at our seniors and say that we made it to the Great Eight."

After winning the Flint Metro League championship, midfielder Duncan Rowley is still disappointed in the loss but continues to keep his head up.

"We played our best game," Rowley said. "We worked hard until the finish of it."

His teammate, midfielder Justin Henderson, agreed.

"It's just hard losing but we'll always have the memories," Henderson said.
