After two state semifinal losses, the Bucs look to take it all in 2012
FLINT -- Last year’s season ended all too familiarly for Flint Beecher—a second straight state semifinal loss.
This year, they are hungry for another state run but this time, for a championship.
"We're real hungry, we work hard every day,” said Antuan Burks, Buccaneers senior guard. “Dedication. We just come in and put in the work and hopefully we get back there another year."
They are certainly favorites to make it back again this year, retaining Burks for a fourth year on varsity.
Beecher also boasts, arguably, the best player in the state of Michigan, junior guard Monte Morris.
"We’ve just figured out what we had to do as a team to be successful this year,” Morris said. “So we just know it’s hard work and dedication every day.”
Both Morris and Burks said that their head coach, Mike Williams, has told them there would be a target on their backs.
They’re prepared for the challenge.
“We’ve been there twice and people wanna be where we’ve been at,” Morris said. “We just gotta go hard and make each other better.”
Beecher begins their season on Tuesday, December 6th against Flint Northern.
