Steve Schmidt said he's looking to see how his team responds to their first loss.

FLINT -- The Mott Bears were undefeated through 13 games until Henry Ford handed them their first loss of the season Monday night.

Wednesday, Macomb comes to Ballenger Field House.

The Monarchs did beat Henry Ford by 20 points earlier in the season.

Mott's head coach Steve Schmidt said he knows Wednesday will be another tough test.

Monday, he said, his squad did not play well enough and didn't deserve to win. He added, they aren't playing their best basketball.

But don't misunderstand those as excuses. In fact, his team wears the motto "no excuses" on their practice uniforms.

"I don't like to lose," Steve Schmidt said Wednesday afternoon. "I'll see how we respond, to see the character of this team and of how the guys handle adversity. It's something I learned growing up through athletics, when you get knocked down it shows how well you can bounce back, what type of character you have and what kind of toughness you have. I am going to learn a lot about our team to see how we respond."
