BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP -- the 101st Michigan Amatuer wrapped up at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township earlier today.
This year's big winner was Drew Preston of Ada who took down Tom Werkmeister of Kentwood in the final round of match play with a two-up victory.
Preston, who is just 21 years old, called it a long week and in fact had to race back to Ohio after Monday's opening round to take his history of Nazi Germany final at Bowling Green State University.
The Fighting Falcon still has one semester left at BGSU but has already used up his golf eligiblity.
Meanwhile the runner-up Werkmeister is on the complete opposite end of the life specturm. He's a 44-year-old internet salesman who won the 2009 Michigan Amatuer.
Werkmeister had an early two-up lead in today's championsihp match but fell behind for good after the 15th hole.
