A powerful third inning for the Great Lakes Loons helped them defeat the Dayton Dragons on the road.
Down 2-0 heading into the third, an RBI single by Joe Winker to send Darnell Sweeney home, runs by Jesus Arredondo and Winker, and a 2 RBI double by Jeffery Hunt, gave the Loons a 5-2 lead.
Loons pitcher Duke von Schamann had an ERA of 1.76 for the game, allowing four hits and striking out three Dragons.
James Baldwin hit the only home run in the game in the eighth inning against Dayton pitcher Lucas O’Rear.
The Loons improve to 7-11 since the All-Star break, three games back of a four way tie for the eastern division lead.
Great Lakes returns home to Dow Diamond on Wednesday, July 11, hosting the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
