GRAND BLANC -- You might say Geena Gall's running career started early.
"She ran her first meet when she was 4-years-old," her mom, June Gall, said. "She went off with the shot gun from the group in front of her. People were saying there goes Geena Gall."
Gall hasn't stopped since. The natural athlete played other sports and excelled at them.
"We let her try everything," Gall's dad, Jerry, said. "Tennis, golf; she was quite good at golf."
But soon running became her thing.
"In her first year running cross country, she won the Big Nine title," June Gall said.
At Grand Blanc High School, Gall won two indoor and two outdoor state titles, plus one national Championship in the 800 meters.
She went on to run at the University of Michigan where she won back-to-back NCAA Championships.
Gall failed to make the US Olympic team as a junior at UM in 2008, but in 2012 as a runner for Nike, Gall came in second at the US Olympic Trials and stamped her ticket to London.
"I was just so excited," Geena said after the race. "I knew that I had made the team, and it was such a relief to know my dream had come true."
Gall broke the 2-minute mark last year and keeps getting better, which puts her up there with the best in the world.
So the question is, can the Grand Blanc native pull it off in London?
" think Geena Gall can do it," June said. "Geena gall has done it, time and time again."
