REESE -- The Reese Rockets believe they can make a run at a Division Seven state championship.

In order to make that happen, the Greater Thumb West runners-up from 2011 are scheduling tougher opponents like Division Six Montrose, a team they will host in Friday's NBC25's Game of the Week on August 24.

"If we're ever gonna win a state title, it goes right through Saginaw Nouvel," Reese head coach Bob Saylor said of the defending state champs. "Could they beat Montrose? I think so."

Reese returns most of their starters from last year's district finalist team, including quarterback Cody Peyok. The junior believes they match up well with the Rams and that the early test will help his Rockets.

"We're gonna see what our team is made of right now," Peyok said. "It's gonna be a great game."

Coverage of Friday's contest will begin at 6:00 pm on NBC25 News.
