KOCHVILLE TWP -- A week ago, Saginaw Valley State University, suspended five players, including four starters, from playing in the season opener.
Wednesday, Head Coach Jim Collins said Defensive End Nate Snyder has been reinstated.
The four other players, Tevon Conrad, Kaleb Forr, Jack Raymond and Jesse Somsel, all remain suspended.
The five players were suspended last week by the school in connection with an alleged incident of sexual abuse against a freshman inside the locker room in early August.
Collins said the alleged incident is still being evaluated by the school.
He did not say why Snyder was reinstated and the others were not.
The case was turned over to the Saginaw County Prosecutor's office, no charges have been filed to date.
Collins and starting quarterback, Jonathon Jennings said they're are standing by their players and trying to move on with the season despite this distraction.
"it's really been a gut-check for this whole program," Collins said. "It was a learning experience for sure. With anyone that faces adversity, you either come out of it stronger or weaker; we're choosing to come out of it stronger."
"Everyone faces adversity at some point and everyone needs to learn how to come together and become a stronger unit," Jennings said.
SVSU beat Valdosta State 28-24 Saturday. They play Malone this week.
