FLINT -- Coach, motivator, teacher, friend - all words used to describe hall of fame coach Jack Pratt.
The longtime football and basketball coach died Monday after a battle with leukemia. He was 84 years old.
Out at Powers Catholic High School, Ralph Zagari, defensive line coach and former lineman at Kearsley High School under Pratt in 1994 and 1995, remembered the coach as someone who knew how to have fun, describing an unusual practice drill Pratt led.
"All of a sudden, he starts dancing and we were just looking around," Zagari said of him and his teammates. "He wanted us to do the 'Deion Sanders dance move' for conditioning. Stuff like that is what you remember.
Current Powers Catholic head coach, Bob Buckel, remembered Pratt as one of the best motivators he ever coached against.
"He was the best coach at teaching his team how to play hard," Buckel said. "He had a gift to get his team to always play their best."
VIsitation will be held September 26th and 27th at Sharp Funeral Home in Swartz Creek. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 28, at Powers Catholic High School.
