DETROIT -- Not the scene Tigers fans were hoping for.

After sweeping the Yankees, they're swept by the San Francisco Giants, falling 4-3 in the deciding game of the 2012 World Series on a chilly Sunday evening at Comerica Park.

Here is what some of the Tigers players were saying after the game:

"It sucks," Tigers First baseman Prince Fielder said.  "I wanted to win obviously. I wanted to spray my boys with champagne again. But, we just got beat."

"They were hot, it's like every night they had someone stepping up for them," Catcher Gerald Laird said.

"It's hard to think about, but there were 28 other teams who wish they were here right now and we were the best team in the American League," Starting pitcher Max Scherzer said.

"It's tough, a lot of teams and players never even get a sniff of the World Series," Catcher Alex Avila said, who sat out game four due to an injury.

"It stings," Tigers Ace Justin Verlander said.  "I think the only thing that will make me feel better is to win it all."

It's a tough pill to swallow, but the good news is the team is stacked for the future.

Plus, they add Victor Martinez to the lineup for 2013.  No doubt the Tigers will use this feeling to fuel their fire when they report to spring training in a few months.
