GRAND BLANC -- Grand Blanc and Burton Genesee Christian boys soccer teams are just one game away from the state championship game.
Both play in the semifinal round Wednesday.
Grand Blanc takes on Utica Ford at Lake Orion high school Wednesday in a division one semifinal game.
Genesee Christian takes on Hamtramck Frontier International at Troy Athens in a division four semifinal game.
The Bobcats had a pretty good regular season, going 10-6-2, but Head Coach Greg Kehler said his team seems to have gotten hot at just the right time.
Kehler's squad only scored 32 goals in the regular season, but through five games of the post season, Grand Blanc has scored 18.
Kehler said his team was in a lot of close games in the regular season, and that, along with some really good team chemistry, has gotten them this far.
"They're a good group of guys, they really get along well," Kehler said. "They might get along better than any team I've coached."
"We're finding chemistry up top at the right times, everything is going right for us right now," Senior Chris Sullivant said.
"We had a scare in the districts, then another one in regionals," Senior Dominic Mastroatteo said. "To come back and win and continue on in this tournament is magical."
As for Genesee Christian, they jumped out to a hot start this season thanks in part, to their leading scorer Junior Clay Selby.
The Soldiers cooled off to end the regular season, but got momentum back in the playoffs, beating their rival Saginaw Valley Lutheran in the district round.
This is the farthest Genesee Christian has ever made it in the post season.
Head Coach Doug Anderson said this season will be a success no matter what happens Wednesday, but a state championship game berth would be nice.
Anderson admits they don't know all that much about Hamtramck Frontier International, so they'll just still to the game plan they've had all season.
"We're going to do our best to spread the field and do a lot of quick transitions," Anderson said. "We're going to try to get them off their game and take as many shots as possible because of the bad weather."
"We've been solid in the back the whole season," said Junior Clay Selby, who's scored 10 goals this post season. "We need to not make any mistakes, then the midfield and forwards usually get some goals."
