FLINT -- The Mott Bears finished the 2012 season 35-1 and Division Two NJCAA Champions – and, despite ten new players, could be an even better team this season, according to Mott Head Coach Steve Schmidt.

“It’s what you strive for every year,” Schmidt said.

One of the reasons is because of the talent they have all over the floor, including Mt. Morris native Ahasherus McDonald. The freshman guard has emerged as one of the more energetic and hardest workers of the team.

“He’s a personable kid that enjoys being a part of the program,” Schmidt said.

McDonald does not mind the pressure.

“I gotta live up to it if that’s what he said,” McDonald said. “I’m just learning how to be a better teammate, a better player, a better everything.”

The Mott Bears begin the regular season on Saturday, November 3 against Grand Rapids Community College at Ballenger Fieldhouse.
