ANN ARBOR -- Police say they're investigating how an 18-year-old fell several stories last month from a window at a University of Michigan dorm.

AnnArbor.com reports Friday that the man was visiting friends on campus and suffered significant injuries in the Nov. 18 fall, but since has been released from a hospital. Officials say he was apparently on the ground for hours before being found.

He fell from Mary Markley residence hall, which is built into an Ann Arbor hillside with part of it below ground level. Police estimated that the man fell 43 feet from a window on the dorm's sixth floor. The man's name wasn't released.

The residence hall is the same building where freshman Courtney Cantor fell to her death in 1998 from a sixth-floor window.
