State Police trooper released from hospital following early-morning accident

BAY CITY -- A Michigan State Police trooper is released from the hospital following an early-morning accident in Bay City.

Police report that the trooper from the Tri-City Post was responding to a request for assistance from the Bay City Police department when a vehicle struck the patrol car causing it to hit a tree.

It happened on Midland Street at the intersection of Chilson Street around 2a.m.

The trooper was taken to McLaren Medical Center with minor injuries and released.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital and will later be transported to the Bay County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation.
