Spirit Win to Spitfires with Chris Osgood in Attendance

The Saginaw Spirit took on the Windsor Spitfires on Saturday night, while welcoming former Detroit Red Wing Goaltender, and 3 time Stanley Cup Winner, Chris Osgood, winning at home 8 - 3.

SAGINAW -- The Saginaw Spirit took on the Windsor Spitfires on Saturday night, while welcoming former Detroit Red Wing Goaltender, and 3 time Stanley Cup Winner, Chris Osgood, winning at home 8 - 3.

 

Both Western Conference teams came out strong in the opening period; however the Spitfires were able to put up a lead early on with two goals. The first goal was from Kerby Rychel, his 22nd goal of the season, assisted by Los Angeles Kings prospect, Nick Ebert and Patrick Sanvido, followed by a goal off Trevor Murphy's stick, his 6th of the season, with assists coming from Kerby Rychel and Colorado Avalanche prospect, Michael Clarke. The Spirit came back to score a goal from Eric Locke, his 21st of the season, assisted by Marselis Subban and Jimmy Lodge. The first period ended Windsor 2 - Saginaw 1.

 

The second period opened up with a Windsor goal by New Jersey Devils prospect, Ben Johnson, with assists coming from Montreal Canadiens prospect, Brady Vail. The Spirit fired back with five goals within seven minutes. The first goal was an unassisted goal by Eric Locke, his 22nd of the season, followed by a short-handed goal from Nick Moutrey, his 11th of the season, with an assist from Eric Locke. The next two goals for the Spirit were both from Chicago Blackhawks prospect, Garret Ross, making those, his 18th and 19th of the season. The first goal by Ross was assisted by Nathan Glass and Jimmy Lodge, with the second goal from Ross was assisted by Andrey Alexeev and Jimmy Lodge. The Spirit concluded the second period with a goal from Jeremiah Addison, his 3rd of the season, with assists coming from Terry Trafford and Jason Shaw. The period ended Saginaw 6 - Windsor 3.

 

Both the Spirit and the Spitfires came out strong in the third. However, only the Spirit were able to score, the first from Jimmy Lodge, his 11th of the season, assisted by Jason Shaw and Garret Ross, and the second scored by Nick Moutrey to end the offense, with assists coming from Buffalo Sabres prospect, Justin Kea and Jeremiah Addison. The game ended Saginaw 8 - Windsor 3, with shots on goal Windsor 44 - Saginaw 42.
