FLINT -- The UM-Flint men's hockey team will definitely have a hockey season this year, in fact it begins this Friday as they host a Canadian junior team in a preseason tuneup.

The Wolverines are hoping to build on last season in which the Maize and Blue went 25-3-2, and were just one win shy of heading to the national tournament.

This year, they return just about the whole squad and hope to continue the magic.

"Nothing will change," First-year Head Coach Mike Schunot said. "We will add a few players and try to build on what we established last year."

"We have a lot more guys this year and a lot deeper team," Junior Defenseman Brian Gibbons said. "Our top three lines look a lot stronger than last year even."

"I think we've gone a step farther from where we were last year just from our first week of practice," Senior Goaltender Kirk Allen said. "I'm excited to see what happens once we get a game under our belts."
