KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP) -- Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher fatally shot his girlfriend early today and then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and committed suicide in front of team general manager Scott Pioli and coach Romeo Crennel

.Authorities did not release a possible motive for the murder-suicide, though they say Belcher and his girlfriend had been arguing recently. The two of them have an infant child.

It's another blow to a team already locked in a downward spiral. The Chiefs have lost eight in a row and are 1-10 after being picked by many to contend for the AFC West title.

There have been constant calls the past few weeks for Pioli and Crennel  to be fired.

The Chiefs are scheduled to host the Carolina Panthers tomorrow.
