Perez spent entire 2008 season with Toledo
DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms on a minor league contract with outfielder Timo Perez.
Perez will be in major league camp with the Tigers this spring as a non-roster invitee.
Perez spent the entire 2008 season with Triple A Toledo, batting .302 (129x427) with 30 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs and 63 RBI in 112 games. He tied for ninth in the International League with a .302 batting average. Perez played for Licey in the Dominican Winter League this off-season, hitting .319 (53x166) with seven doubles, six home runs and 29 RBI in 48 games.
Additionally, the Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms on 2009 contracts with the following seven players: righthanded pitchers Kyle Bloom, Alfredo Figaro, Chris Lambert and Zach Simons, catcher Dusty Ryan, infielder Michael Hollimon and outfielder Casper Wells.
With today’s signings, the Tigers currently have 29 players on the club’s 40-man roster under contract for the 2009 season.
